Bud Tingwell, born Charles William Tingwell, was born on January 3, 1923, in Coogee, Sydney. Before he gained fame as an actor, Tingwell served in the Royal Australian Air Force during World War II.


Bud Tingwell appeared in numerous movies throughout his career, but he is best known for his roles in "The Castle" in 1997, where he played the character of Lawrence Hammill, and "Breaker Morant" in 1980, where he portrayed Lt. Peter Handcock.

Family Life

Bud Tingwell was married to Audrey Wilson from 1962 until his death in 2009. They had two children together, Christopher and Virginia.


Bud Tingwell made his acting debut in the film "Smithy" in 1946. He was also a prominent television actor and director, and he was awarded the Member of the Order of Australia for his services to the entertainment industry in 1999.
